Aiming For Health Tournament
The Good Samaritan Clinic is pleased to announce its inaugural Aiming for Health Sporting Clays Tournament. This tournament is open to all and will take place on Sunday, March 17 at Tampa Bay Sporting Clays in Land O' Lakes. According to the facility's website:
"Sporting clays is a form of clay pigeon shooting. Described as “golf with a shotgun” the sport differs from trap and skeet shooting in that:
- It is often considered to be more difficult than trap or skeet.
- It involves shooting clay targets at multiple locations (called stations).
- Unlike trap and skeet, which are games of repeatable target presentations, sporting clays targets are thrown from Clay throwing machines in a great variety of trajectories, angles, speeds, elevations and distances.
The original idea behind sporting clays was to create an experience that more closely reflects actual hunting conditions. Whereas top-tier trap and skeet professionals may have hit ratings nearing 100%, the best sporting clay shooters hit their targets only about 93% to 95% of the time. Although the sport is challenging, it is quite popular with novice shooters and ordinary hunters."
The clinic is looking for individual shooters, foursomes, and sponsors at every level. Tickets are $125 pp, all inclusive (BBQ luncheon, cart, ammo, shotgun (or BYO), water, targets, and earplugs). Sponsored foursomes are available for $600. Spectators are welcome with tickets available for $20. Call (727) 207-2090 for other sponsorship opportunities. Tickets are available at the clinic or or online at http://www.goodsamclinic.org/aim4health. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places as well as a special prize for last place. Silent auction items, 50/50 tickets, and "shelligans" will also be available. All proceeds to benefit the Good Samaritan Health Clinic, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Clinic Named Non-Profit of the Year
June 12, 2012- The Good Samaritan Health Clinic of Pasco, Inc., a charitable organization, was named “Non-Profit of the Year” at the 68th Annual Chamber Banquet, held last Friday evening. During the Special Awards presentation, the Clinic was up against some other very worthy causes and was delighted to have been selected. “This recognition from the business community is amazing” says Clinic’s CEO, Melissa Fahy. She continues with “Our Clinic is valued added to the needy residents throughout Pasco County, we deliver healthcare to those who fall between the cracks. It is exciting that we have been recognized as leader within the non-profit sector. We have a great team!” The Good Sam Clinic started back in 1990 and continues to meet the needs of the low-income, uninsured residents. Volunteer Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Dentists, and an army of volunteer support staff deliver charitable services to those who cannot afford it otherwise. The Clinic receives no Federal or State funding so it relies on fundraisers, grants, donations and community partnerships. “We make a difference everyday as we serve over 4,000 patients, this recognition award is something we are extremely proud of” say Fahy.
